About Circulation Guide

Circulation Guide exists because the phrase “poor circulation” hides more than it explains. Arteries, veins and lymphatics do different jobs, fail in different ways, and need different treatment — and the advice that helps one can hurt another.

What this site is

A plain-language reference on leg and foot circulation, swelling and vein health, written for adults trying to make sense of their own symptoms, people managing a diagnosis, and family members helping someone else. It is national in scope, with one page offering a local option in Michigan.

The editorial promise is simple: explain what may be happening, what the evidence supports, and which next step makes sense.

What this site is not

  • It is not a diagnosis. No page here can tell you what you have, and no page will tell you that you are safe.
  • It is not a substitute for assessment. Where a decision depends on measuring the circulation, we say so rather than offering a checklist instead.
  • It will never suggest working through home products before getting appropriate care.

Who owns and writes it

Circulation Guide is owned and written by Tom Biernacki, DPM, FACFAS, a double board-certified podiatric surgeon in Michigan. He is a foot and ankle specialist, not a vascular surgeon — a distinction this site states rather than blurs, because it determines what he can speak to directly. Full author page →

Related sites and disclosed relationships

The same author owns and publishes several related sites, and one clinical practice. Stating this openly matters more than the tidiness of pretending otherwise:

Site or organization Relationship What it covers
Balance Foot & Ankle PLLC Owned by the author The Michigan podiatry practice referenced on our Michigan page
MichiganFootDoctors.com Owned by the author The practice’s own site — local details and scheduling
ManagingNeuropathy.com Owned by the author Peripheral neuropathy education
DiabeticFootGuide.com Owned by the author Diabetic foot education
HeelGuide.com Owned by the author Heel pain education
PodiatristTested.com Owned by the author Footwear and product testing

Where these sites are linked from here, it is because the other site covers that subject in more depth — not as a substitute for independent sources, which are cited separately on every page.

How the site is funded

There are no affiliate links on Circulation Guide at the time of writing, and no product recommendations. When product guides are published they will use affiliate links, disclosed in plain language before the recommendation rather than only in a footer. Affiliate disclosure →
