Why a podiatrist writes about circulation
Podiatry sits at the end of the circulatory system, which turns out to be a useful vantage point. A foot is where reduced arterial supply first shows itself as a wound that will not close, where venous pressure first shows itself as skin change at the ankle, and where the consequences of getting compression wrong land first.
Podiatrists spend a lot of their working life spotting limbs at risk and getting them in front of the right specialist. That is genuinely part of the expertise — and so is knowing where it stops. A podiatrist does not treat arterial blockage; a podiatrist recognizes it, protects the foot, and coordinates.
